Thursday 3rd May 2012 Lamington National Park

We all crashed early last night and slept well. We had a leisurely breakfast and pack up of the trailer before heading up to O'Reilly's in the Lamington National Park. We left the trailer behind as the roads were steep and full of switchbacks. The drive up was lovely as you climbed up into the rainforest. The views of the valley were beautiful.
We went on a walk through the rainforest which was very muddy down to a waterfall. Ed was keen to find a Lamington Spiny Crayfish which is a pure white and iridescent blue. Unfortunately all they found was a claw!
Charlotte took this photo of the claw balanced on her leg.

Along the way there was some beautiful views on the walk.

Some of the ancient trees and their root systems were amazing!

At the end of the walk we came across a load of King Parrots and Crimson Rosella's on the grass near the car park. They were obviously used to people and we had fun with them landing on our arms and heads looking for food that we didn't have! They were spectacular!

We then drove north to Maroochydore to stay with friends from WA. We walked in the door to a lovely home cooked meal and a comfy warm bed!
