Back into beautiful Boab country!
Well we finally made it back to our home state!
Ed got the car going again after our quarantine stop and we drove through to Kununurra. Luckily for us our friends from East Vic Park, Rose & Shane and their children Miles, Esther & Amelia, are living here and we went straight to their house. We are so lucky to have them to stay with and the added bonus is that Rose is an amazing cook!
On Thursday we took the car in to a mechanic to be told that we need a new clutch and it will cost $2130! Crap! The part was ordered and we had no choice but to wait and as everyone said there is time and then there is Kimberly time so we were a bit nervous about how long it would take.
Thursday and Friday were spent relaxing with Rose and doing school work with the kids.
Saturday Ed, Shane and Miles went on a helifish. Ed has been so excited about it. They had a ball and came back with some beautiful Baramundi. Ed caught 6 size Barra - the biggest was 84cm. The proof is unfortunately on Shane's camera. Ed caught a 1m Barra but lost it! Oh well we live to try again to join the 1m club! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner of whole barramundi cooked on the BBQ. It was amazing. The left over fish Rose put into a wonderful dinner of fish chowder which the adults enjoyed over 2 nights.

We did a bit of exploring around Kununurra and Wyndam.
Shane kindly lent us a car and we drove out the Prison Boab, checked out some aboriginal art, went to the five rivers lookout and saw the 'big croc' of Wyndam & Molly's Springs. Unfortunately they have been burning a lot up here and the beautiful Molly Springs was no exception. Most of the lovely palms were burnt down.

The Big Croc - so big we couldn't fit him in the photo!
Ed and Shane took all the kids fishing at The Keep River (just over the border into NT). They were gone for the day and 3 Barra and 1 Blue Salmon were caught. Thomas was so excited to catch his first ever big fish - a blue salmon. It was also mighty fine to eat. Ed caught 1 Barra and Shane caught two.
Thomas and his big catch (62cm) caught on, of course, the 'Kmart Special' rod!

The kids also enjoyed 3 days at St Josephs Primary School thanks to the Principal Janine. They had a great time. Thomas enjoyed Pre Primary, Olivia joined into Year 2 with Esther & Amelia and Charlotte joined a Year 5/6 class. Thanks to the teachers for all the fun they had which ended on the third day with a Book Week parade.

Charlotte as Polly from The Magicians Nephew - Book 1 in The Chronicles of Narnia
The best we could do for all three of them with no preparation!
Rose took me around to a couple of galleries where I saw some amazing work and some great studio spaces for the artists. If only the clutch wasn't broken I might have been tempted to make a purchase. She also took me to a great place with some beautiful pottery, glass and jewellery and to the clothing and accessories store with had some lovely stuff.
Charlotte's friend Amy has a tree dedicated to her which is planted along the road towards the airport. We collected a boab nut from her tree and posted it back to her. Amy has never seen the tree so she was really pleased to get it.

We had a wonderful time hanging out with Rose and Shane and the kids all had a lot of fun together. We enjoyed some fine food and wine while we were there and Rose and I re acquainted ourselves with the delights of a Baileys or 2 in the evenings! We really enjoyed our stay at the 'Resort d'Johnson!'
