Wednesday 4th July - Thursday 5th July - Driving to Birdsville

After leaving Longreach we headed as far south as we felt and stopped at a tiny little town called 'Stonehenge.' (There were no famous rocks there that i knew of!) We had a cold night but the girls and I managed to get a quick shower which was nice.
We had a magic sunset.

We continued on down towards to Birdsville the next day.
We drove along the roads which were sealed and unsealed. We saw a few points of interest along the way including some original native wells and a jump up called Deano’s Lookout which afforded us some amazing views of the area.
An old 'native well' on the road towards Birdsville

As evening approached we decided to stop at an abandoned town called Betoota. A guy called Ziggy ran the pub in town and was the sole resident. When he died in 1997 the pub was closed and the towns population went from 1 to 0! It was a bit windy so we used the pub as a windbreak which helped to protect us a bit.
It was another cold night in the desert!
