Tuesday 6th March 2012 - Lake Burbury - Lake St. Clair

Another wet night....bugger!!!
We left the lake and the kids new friends, Zara & Sasha, and drove a beautiful drive towards Lake St. Clair which forms part of the Cradle Mountain National Park. Along the way we made a few stops. The first stop was Nelson Falls which was a very short walk of the main road along a boardwalk.
They were quite spectacular!

We got back on the road and went to Dongan Hill. This involved a walk uphill for approximately 40 minutes to a rocky hill which gave beautiful views of all the hills and countryside. It was great for all of us except Charlotte who got bitten on the toe by an ant on the way back down!

We drove onto Lake St. Clair and decided to camp there for the night due to the need for clean clothes and hot showers. Happy days.
We went for a walk on the Platypus Walk trail hoping to see a platypus for Olivia but we had no joy. The walk was lovely and we had great views of the Lake.
As the cool evening descended we decamped to the camp kitchen where there was a beautiful warm fire and cooking facilities. After dinner we stayed there for some rowdy games of UNO which is great now that Thomas can join in as he understands it finally!

Before going to bed (while I was drying the washing) Ed took the kids for a quick spotlight around the camp ground. They saw Quolls and Possums. Ed reckoned they were the best fed Possums he had ever seen as they were so fat!
It was a dry but very cold night. It must have been cold (5 degrees we found out later) because Ed went to bed in a beanie and tracksuit!
Thomas all wrapped up for the night.
